Natural gas distribution in İzmir and Tire
On 27 January 2005 Kolin Construction submitted the winning bid (unit service and depreciation charge of 0.012 kwh) on the natural gas distribution license in metropolitan İzmir and its environs and in Tire township. EMRA licensing formalities were launched shortly afterwards and the İzmirgaz company was set up to distribute natural gas in the İzmir-Tire region.
İzmirgaz received its 30-year natural gas distribution license from EMRA on 7 July 2005.
Turkey’s second biggest natural gas company in terms of consumption
As of July 2007, İzmirgaz had 21,000 subscribers. In terms of the total volume of consumption, it is the second biggest natural gas company in Turkey.
USD 250 million in investment
İzmirgaz plans to invest approximately USD 250 million over the first five years of its license on a natural gas mains project within the city of İzmir itself. This project calls for the installation of 900 kms of steel and 9,000 kms of polyethylene pipe.
Within 60 months’ time, natural gas will be available for use in every part of the İzmir license territory.
