Building, Operating and Transferring the Northern Marmara Highway (Including the 3rd Bosphorus Bridge) Project’s Kurtköy–Akyazı Section (Linking Roads Included) According to the “Build-Operate-Transfer Model”

As part of the “Construction Works of the Northern Marmara Highway’s (Including the 3rd Bosphorus Bridge) Kurtköy–Akyazı Section (Linking Roads Included),” the construction works of the sections covering the 5th section KM: 187 + 730-193 + 500, and the 6th section KM: 193 + 500 to KM: 232 + 900 were undertaken by Kolin Construction. The project includes the construction of 45,170 kilometers of two- x four-lane highways, five main road junctions, six linking road junctions and related connection roads, two tunnels and eight viaducts.

The construction of a 45,170-meter-long two- x four-lane main road, 16,987-meter-long two- x three-lane linking road, 51,228-meter-long junction connection road, 32,888-meter-long sideways for underpasses and overpasses, eight viaducts, 52 bridges, 13 overpasses, 21 underpasses and 126 culverts have been completed as part of the project.

Additionally, the world’s largest excavation section highway tunnel with a total length of 1,842 meters was built for the project.

The project that covers the Kocaeli and Sakarya provinces includes the Izmit Junction, Izmit TEM Junction, Akmeşe Junction, Adapazarı Junction and Karasu Junctions. There are six grade-separated junctions and three grade junctions on the linking roads of these junctions.

Northern Marmara Highway, Kurtköy-Akyazı Section and linking roads included, have been provisionally accepted and officially opened as of December 2020.
